Our Mission

Our mission is to discover, apply and disseminate knowledge that will lead to:

  • the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases,
  • the diagnosis and cure of individuals afflicted with these disorders,
  • the repair of nervous systems damaged by these diseases, and
  • an easing of the burden of the caregivers and families of patients with these illnesses.

Our research includes the study of a broad spectrum of neurodegenerative diseases including:

  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Frontotemporal Dementia and related disorders, including Lewy Body Dementia
  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, or “Lou Gehrig’s Disease” or Motor Neuron Disease)
  • Ataxia-Telangiectasia and prion diseases, such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD)
  • Scrapie, Spongiform bovine encephalitis (“Mad Cow Disease”) and Chronic Wasting Disease
